Northumbria in Bloom

Congratulations to Haltwhistle who won the Best Small Town category in the 2007 Northumbria in Bloom Awards. They were awarded a Silver Gilt and brought the winning cup back.

Awards also went to Ashcroft Guest House in the Hotel category, a Neighbourhood Award of Merit for the COmmunity Garden and Derek Martin a certificate of recognition for outstanding contribution by a private individual.

Haltwhistle First School have been involved in the design of the floral beds in the Memorial Park Garden. A number of children came to help plant the winning design which had been created by Naomi Sloan.

Four children went to Gateshead Civic Centre on Sunday 24th June to receive a certificate of merit for their entries into the Northumbria in Bloom Painting Compeition.

The results of the Haltwhistle in Bloom Private Garden competition will be announced soon.

Thank you to all those volunteers who have been helping us plant the new flower tubs along the Main Street and at the Station area.

Thank you to the Rainbows, Brownies and Guides who have been out litter picking.
